Luxury Guest House Accommodation

Hermanus Beach Villa offers luxurious guest house accommodation and was awarded 4-star status by the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa. It provides a familiar as well as intimate beach holiday atmosphere with its nine spacious rooms.

All rooms have ocean views and access to a private balcony. The rooms are accommodated across two floors. The public area houses our homelike breakfast room as well as a lounge where guests can relax and meet for a chat about the exciting experiences of the day or to plan new adventures. Moreover, the Hermanus Beach Villa possesses a garden in which famous South African BBQs, or braais, can be enjoyed.

Our guest house is situated only a few steps away from Voelklip beach, the Blue Flag Grotto beach, as well as the famous cliff path which leads approximately 12 km along the scenic Whale Coast Route from the New Harbour to Grotto Beach. It is accessible from many points along the route and offers scenic views and fantastic possibilities for close-up whale watching in season. As this path is part of the Fernkloof Nature Reserve, you will experience the nearly untouched flora and fauna of Hermanus.

Visitors to Hermanus are spoilt for choice when it comes to fine restaurants and culinary delights with fresh seafood, sushi and fine local wines. Even though Hermanus has grown rapidly during the past decade offering up market shops, fine restaurants and luxury accommodation options, the town has retained its traditional village charm.

Cancellation: If canceled or modified up to 45 days before date of arrival, no fee will be charged. If canceled or modified up to 30 days before date of arrival, 50 percent of the total price of the reservation will be charged. If canceled or modified later or in case of no-show, the total price of the reservation will be charged.

Hermanus has so much to offer if you are a nature lover. Grotto Beach and Onrus beach are just two of the many great beaches we have in Hermanus. The famous cliff path is also one of our nature jewels that attracts many visitors all year round. In the Fernkloof Nature Reserve you will find a network of hiking trails as well as the three dams. Taking a drive up Rotary Way is another favourite pastime for visitors and locals alike. Sunrise and sunset are best however any time of day will reward you with sweeping views over the town. Hoy's Koppie, located in town is another great vantage point from which to see Hermanus from up high. The Hemel en Aarde valley has many MTB tracks for cycling enthusiasts and some road have dedicated bycicle lanes. Hermanus is also well know for sporting events such as trail running, mountain biking and running. Kite surfing, surfing, diving and fishing are also popular pastimes in Hermanus. If you are more adventurous you can take to the skies and try your hand at paragliding. Quad biking in the valley through the vineyards is another unforgettable experinece

Nightlife info

Hermanus has a buzzing nightlife. Enjoy a sun downer at one of our many restaurants of visit some of the pubs and bars in town. You won't battle to find a live gigs or music event in Hermanus. A number of bars have pool tables and big screen TV's for those all important rugby games. A number of venues also have dance floors if you want to get down an boogie. If you love art then the First Friday art walk is a must, on the first Friday of every month.

Culture and history info

Hermanus has a long history dating back to the the Khoi and San peoples of Southern Africa. Evidence that they lived in the area has been discovered in a cave at Hoy's Koppie located in the center of town. In the early 1800’s a gentleman by the name of Hermanus Pieters discovered Hermanus which became known as Hermanupietersfontein. Interestingly enough the decision was made to shorten the name to Hermanus in 1902 as postal taxes were levied on each letter of the towns name.
The first permanent settlers arrived in 1857. The Henn family pitched a camp next to the waterfall discovered by Mr Pieters in town and built the first permanent buildings along the present day Marine Drive. By the late 1800's Hermanus had had become a bustling fishing village with a number of hotels, shops and a post office. Word spread fast and Hermanus was soon prescribed to the ill as an ideal location for recuperation and rest  because of the champagne air. A sanatorium was even erected over looking Walker Bay. The building now houses the Windsor Hotel. Did you know that Hermanus has a train station but no trains pass thought the town? Sir William Hoy, head of the South Africa Railways and Harbour Services enjoyed to holiday in Hermanus during the summer and had a great fondness for the small town.
