Benguela Cove Lagoon Wine Estate is situated in Walker Bay, Hermanus, next to the cold Benguela current coming from the west coast of Africa. The 200 hectare lifestyle farm and exclusive luxury estate boast its own 400 ton winery, where the vineyards benefit from the cool maritime conditions. This results in well balanced acids and perfect ripeness throughout all the grapes in the vineyard.

Our custom built, 400 ton winery has tank sizes ranging up to 32000ℓ. The beauty of our technology lies in the fact that we are able to ferment the same grape in five different fermentation vessels. Our head winemaker Johann Fourie, is a leading expert in the artistry of producing superior quality wine for Benguela Cove Lagoon Wine Estate.

We pride ourselves on using less chemical sulphites in our wines as we receive a lot more sulphates from the ocean and soil. The natural irrigation of the Atlantic sea breeze enhances the flavour profile of the wine, with complexity and elegance. The estate receives very low rainfall  coupled with windy maritime conditions, which provides cool air during the day and the reduction of cold air at night. The air movement the ocean generates assists in reducing disease by drying the surface of the grape bunches and leaves.

The winery welcomed its first vintage as well as the production of new wine label upgrades. The new additions to Benguela Cove includes:

The second phase of our construction is well underway and November 2017 will see the completion of our new restaurant, barrel room, vinotheque, tasting room, shops and an 18 hole adventure pirate golf course.
