We have some great news for dog lovers in Hermanus. You can now make a pooches day by collecting a dog from the Hermanus Animal Welfare Society to join you on a Saturday morning run. Not only is parkrun a fantastic way for you to meet new people and get fit but it is also a grand opportunity for shelter dogs to get out and socialise.  The good news is that this initiative is not only for locals as visitors and tourists are also welcome to collect some of the gregarious kennel dogs to accompany them on a morning parkrun.

The parkrun is held every Saturday morning in the Hemel en Aarde valley just outside Hermanus. If you would like to make a dogs day simply call HAWS by Friday afternoon the latest and make your intentions known to Lenke Elferink who is the kennel manager. She will ensure that instructions and a friendly doggie are ready and waiting for you to fetch on the day. Collections and drop offs are between 8:00 am and 11:30 am every Saturday. Visit our events section for dates and comprehensive information on Hermanus parkrun .

Taking an amble with a shelter dog is not restricted to Saturday mornings only. The public is welcome to walk shelter dogs during weekdays as well.
